The event was moderated by the UK Ambassador for Human Rights and focused on accountability in Syria after 10 years of war. Maimouna Al-Ammar represented Child Guardians (then Hurras Network), explaining what accountability means for Syrians and advocating for a UN resolution to release all detainees and forcibly disappeared from illegal Syrian detention centers.

Al-Ammar called upon the International Commission of Inquiry on Syria to increase accountability mechanisms, clearly attribute crimes to their actual perpetrators, and establish comprehensive reporting whereby crimes and violations against children are reported to the UN Security Council and raised before the International Criminal Court to seek justice for victims.
