At the Brussels V Conference, Maimouna Al-Ammar joined global experts to highlight the urgent need to restore education and protection for Syria’s children, emphasizing their mental and physical wellbeing after a decade of war.

The event was structured around three main points: Carl Hallergard (EEAS) provided an overview of the Syrian situation, highlighting the conflict’s effects on Syrian children ten years into the crisis. Maimouna Al-Ammar, representing Child Guardians, and Sonia Khush from Save the Children focused on measures to ensure and restore children’s protection and safety, as well as mental and physical wellbeing, including through access to education.
Dimiter Chalev (OHCHR) addressed the conflict’s impact on the right to education and accountability mechanisms.
