About Child Guardians
Safe, Well, Educated
Child Guardians is Syria’s leading child protection organisation, dedicated to ensuring children are safe, well, and educated in communities that uphold their best interests.
In the face of one of the world’s most prolonged humanitarian crises, we work to dismantle the injustices that threaten children’s safety and dignity, with a particular focus on those most at risk.
Guided by humanitarian principles—and grounded in justice, neutrality, and independence—we respond directly to children’s needs. We partner with families, schools, communities, and international actors to protect children, amplify their voices, and push for lasting accountability at every level.
Our Story
It began in 2012, when Syria’s conflict had just erupted and the children were the first to be affected. A small group of committed activists came together to launch the country’s very first workshop on child protection. It wasn’t much—but it was a beginning.
Within months, the team grew to over 130 staff and volunteers in Eastern Ghouta alone. What started as grassroots urgency evolved into a structured, community-led network dedicated to child protection. By 2015, Child Guardians was formally registered in Turkey, later expanding its presence and partnerships in the UK and USA.
Since then, we’ve worked through airstrikes, displacement, and siege, building safe spaces for children and delivering education, psychosocial care, and protection services in some of the hardest-to-reach places in Syria.
What has remained constant is our belief: that even in the darkest circumstances, childhood must be defended.

Justice
We firmly stand against all human rights violations. We advocate for accountability and justice for children and families who have suffered abuse, exploitation, or neglect—regardless of their political, religious, or ethnic background.
Localisation
We believe in the power of local communities. By listening to and working with them, we build solutions that reflect their realities. Our approach empowers families and local actors to lead the way in protecting and supporting their children.
Integrity
We commit to complete honesty and transparency. Whether reporting on our activities or communicating with partners and families, we ensure information is accurate and never hidden or distorted.
Humanity
Driven by compassion, we focus our efforts on those who suffer most. Our humanitarian work is rooted in the simple belief that every child deserves dignity, safety, and the chance to thrive.

We do not take sides in political or military conflicts. Our only allegiance is to the well-being of children, and we deliver aid and support without bias or favor.
