Inclusive Education

HomeInclusive Education

every Child's Right to Learn

Learning belongs to every child—without exception.

At Child Guardians, we believe that every child deserves access to quality education—especially the most vulnerable. That’s why we prioritise supporting children with disabilities and learning difficulties, ensuring they have equitable learning opportunities in environments that respect their unique needs and potential.

The Transformative Journey of Aziz” offers a glimpse into how inclusion changes lives.

Our journey began in 2013 in Eastern Ghouta, a besieged and war-torn area in Syria, where we launched a groundbreaking initiative to educate children with disabilities. We established and equipped the first resource room for one-on-one education, with tailored plans and clear developmental goals for each child.

As the children progressed, so did our work. We expanded to integrate inclusive practices into formal education systems—modifying school facilities, training educators, raising awareness among parents and peers, and building an ecosystem that embraces every learner.

Inclusive Eduation

Continued Impact

Since our start, Child Guardians has remained at the forefront of inclusive education across Syria. We continue to raise awareness, improve access, and provide essential services for children with autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, ADHD, and other conditions.

In 2024 alone, we supported the establishment and equipment of 17 new special education centres, further expanding our reach to children previously excluded from school systems.

Our Approach

Comprehensive Inclusion Model

  • Resource Rooms & Individualized Support: Established the first learning spaces for children with disabilities, offering personalized instruction
  • Inclusive Integration into Schools: Prepared school environments to include children with disabilities by improving accessibility, training teachers, and conducting awareness campaigns.
  • Teacher & Principal Training: Conducted specialized training for school principals and educators on inclusive education practices and how to create welcoming, adaptive classroom settings.

Local Impact

Growing local IMpact

  • Policy & Advocacy: Partnered with education actors in NW Syria to organize the first conference of its kind, resulting in a non-formal education policy for children with disabilities.
  • Special Education Centres: Equipped and managed inclusive education centers within formal schools, staffed with trained special education teachers and supported by our coaches.
  • Awareness & Outreach: Led ongoing efforts to promote the rights of children with disabilities and their inclusion in mainstream education.
